  • Update – ’cause I know you all care so much ;-)

Still no word on the arrival of my MINI.   It was supposed to arrive yesterday, but that was just an estimate.  I’ve been driving my sales guy nuts.   It should be here sometime this week.

We should close on the house on the 26th.  We went out to the house yesterday to look at the repairs.  I’m a little worried because it looks like the contractor missed a log that had wood rot in it, and I don’t know if the VA inspector will notice or not.  I don’t really care that the contractor missed it – the boy and I can fix it easy enough – but if it delays the closing of the house I’m going to be grumpy.

March is going to be an uber-busy month for us.  Greg is working for three weeks straight, I work two weekends, and we’ve got to move.  It’s going to be tough.  But if Greg and I can’t make it through this stress, well, we’ve got no business getting married.  So we will!

  • The Demon Car Is Dead!!

Okay, it’s not dead, but I sold it!!  Muahahahahah!!!!  I feel like I somehow swindled the poor girl, but honestly, I told her everything that’s wrong with the car, so…  She paid in cash.  Ever wondered what $5000 in cash looks like?  I never have, but now I know!

    It’s gone!  It’s gone! It’s gone!  Yay!!!!!!!

  • The reason I love my new washer and dryer

I’ve only done a single load in my new washer and dryer, and it’s fabtabulous.  Not the operation of the machines, just the fact that I’ve only used it once.  Why?  ‘Cause it means that Greg has done massive amounts of laundry without me even asking!  He can be trained!! ;-D

I do in fact have the best boyfriend ever.

  • That’s 3! I’m done! You hear me universe?!

1 – Arg.  So I cracked the rim of my tire today.  And not just a wee tiny hairline crack and a little bump that might be repairable.  No, the crack runs about 7 inches, about 1/4th around the rim, and is very bent.  At least the tire I bought less than a month ago is in good condition.  Arg.  Why do things start to go wrong with vehicles right before you’re about to sell the damn thing?  Did I mention we haven’t even gotten the back up lights fixed yet from the last episode?

2 – Yesterday, one of G’s good friends passed away.  He took it well, all things considered.  Though he’s not the type to get overly emotional outwardly, so I think there’s probably a good amount of grief he hasn’t worked out yet.  We’re going to attend the funeral later this week, but haven’t found out the date yet.

3 – The MINI’s arrival date got pushed back about a week.  Arg!

Everyone says bad things come in threes, and I think this should cover me for at least a couple months.  Though I always say that things happen for a reason, so hopefully all this is for at least a good reason…

  • My washing machine died last night.  The motor burned up.  The gods hate me, it’s the only explanation.

  • Talk about a crummy day

I am just not having a good run of days.   We lost the house – the VA wanted a whole bunch of repairs done to the house before closing, and the seller (a bank) was unwilling, so we had to break the purchase agreement.  We looked into other purchasing options, but well, there’s a reason we were going through the VA.  I’m totally bummed.  We both really liked the house and had a lot of plans for it.  Oh well.  As my mom and dad say, it must have happened for a reason… Honestly, while I’m super-disappointed, I’m almost relieved because I’ve stopped worrying about money.  I’m such a worry-wart.

G’s gone for the weekend, too.  Had to go to a 3-day drill.  I miss him.   Feeling very lonely and depressed.  No one else is home, either.  And I’ve got a headache and a general lack of motivation to do anything.  And it’s currently -2 outside, and about 50 in the house.  Bah.  This is going to be a crappy weekend.  At least I’ve got Monday off with G…

On the bright side, my MINI is finished being produced and is now awaiting transportation to the States.  But it could still be as long as a month before it arrives.

Arg!  I think I just need to go curl up with a stiff drink, fluffy book, and a sleeping cat.

  • I rule!

We got the bid on the house, and we’ve signed the (final) purchase agreement.  Yay!  This weekend the VA appraiser comes to take a look at it.  Hopefully we’ll know by Monday whether or not the VA approves.

  • Well, the holidays have been stressful, but at least somewhat enjoyable.  My dad and I get on each other nerves alot, but it wasn’t too bad.  We took the fam-damily out to the new house and they discovered a couple things that we’d missed the first couple times out.  I don’t think it’s anything major, but I’m afraid one of the defects will cause VA to turn down the loan.  I’m nervous.   There some exterior damage to the log siding on one side of the house, fairly deep, but it doesn’t effect the structural integrity of the building.  We’ll have to get it fixed asap so no water damage occurs, but there’s extra siding in the garage, so we’ll just have to pay for labor.  As long as VA approves.   We’ll see!

The in-laws all seeme to get along, so hopefully no issues there.  We still haven’t told G’s daughter about the engagement, but I think she’ll take it well when she does find out.  I hope.

I seem to be doing a lot of hoping.

  • Eek! I’m gonna be a homeowner!!

I put my offer in for a kickass house.  Here’s pics!

    viola front
Only a 2-car garage, but G is content, so I’m going to count my blessings.

    viola kitchen
Kitchen – no appliances or hardware, but has plenty of counter space and knotty pine!!!

    viola den
Mmmm, fireplace and cathedral ceilings.  Oh yeah, and knotty pine!

    viola unfinished garage loft
The unfinished loft, destined to become G’s paint shop.

    viola bed
    Upstairs bedroom

We’re (hopefully) getting a bit of a bargain on it.  The thing is, it’s not entirely finished.  The plumbing is roughed in, but isn’t connected to the appliances – but that’s a pretty easy fix (have I mentioned my fiance has a father and a brother in the construction business?), and there aren’t any kitchen appliances or hardware, but that just means more fun for me!   And there’s no tub in the master bath (but there is a shower stall), and the loft above the garage doesn’t have any insulation or drywall up.  But these are all things we can do ourselves, and have fun doing.   I hope we get it!!!
